They do fundamentally different jobs.

Anti-wrinkle treatment uses botulinum toxin type A to temporarily reduce selected muscle activity. It is particularly useful where movement is contributing to frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, brow position or other movement-related concerns.

Dermal filler is used to add or restore volume, support structure or alter proportion. It can be useful where the concern relates to areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline or changes in facial volume.

Sometimes one is clearly the appropriate tool. Sometimes movement, structure and skin quality are all contributing to what you are noticing, which is why we assess the face rather than automatically matching one concern to one product.

They overlap in that they are injectable treatments used to improve aspects of skin quality, but they are not interchangeable.

Skin boosters generally focus on hydration and skin quality through small amounts of injectable product placed through the treatment area.

Bioremodelling treatments such as Profhilo® use hyaluronic acid in a different formulation and treatment pattern, with the aim of improving hydration, firmness and tissue quality rather than creating conventional filler-like volume.

The right choice depends on what is happening in the skin and what you are trying to improve — hydration, texture, laxity, resilience or a combination of these.

They are both used when improving skin quality is the goal, but they are different treatments.

Profhilo® contains high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid and is used for laxity remodelling and skin-quality improvement. It is generally delivered using a small number of specific injection points.

NCTF® 135 HA is a skin booster containing hyaluronic acid within a broader formulation and is delivered more diffusely through the treatment area. It is used where hydration, texture and overall skin quality are the focus.

Neither is simply “better”. They address skin in different ways, and one may make more sense than the other depending on what we see and what you want to improve.

Hyaluronic-acid dermal filler can generally be dissolved with hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate.

That does not mean every injectable product can be dissolved, and it is important to establish exactly what product was used, where it was placed and what concern is being addressed before treatment.

If the filler was placed elsewhere, bring any information you have about the product and treatment with you.

Yes. In fact, being able to bring different areas of expertise together is central to how we approach treatment at UP®.

A concern rarely has to be viewed through the lens of a single treatment. Facial movement might be addressed with anti-wrinkle treatment while pigmentation, texture or skin quality is treated separately. Brow balance may involve both muscle movement and SPMU. More complex scars may draw on nurse-led treatment, microneedling, laser and other skin treatments at different stages.

Because injectables, skin, laser, brows, lashes and SPMU sit within the same wider team, we can start with the outcome you want and ask which treatment — or combination of treatments — is best suited to achieving it.

The plan follows the goal, rather than being built around a product or modality.

We look at facial structure, brow position, muscle movement, previous treatment and the way different parts of the face relate to one another. Treatment may involve anti-wrinkle treatment, filler, brow or SPMU work, another modality, or sometimes a combination.

The aim is not to make both sides mathematically identical. It is to understand what is creating the imbalance and decide what would make the most useful difference.

Injectables and advanced aesthetic procedures at UP® are delivered within documented protocols, defined scopes of practice and structured escalation pathways.

Our governance model provides clear clinical accountability, medical oversight and ongoing quality review. Our treating nurses have 24/7 access to supervising medical practitioners for immediate escalation where required, including adverse events or other clinical concerns.

Where further medical assessment, treatment or specialist involvement is appropriate, this can be escalated through the relevant clinical pathway.

Xeomin® is an incobotulinum toxin A formulation that contains the active botulinum neurotoxin without the accessory complexing proteins found in some other botulinum toxin formulations.

Those complexing proteins do not contribute to the therapeutic effect. Published evidence suggests that reducing unnecessary protein exposure may reduce antigenic load and potentially the risk of antibody formation over repeated treatment.

That is one reason we favour Xeomin®, alongside the clinical characteristics of the product. It does not mean resistance is impossible, and product choice remains a clinical decision.

Xeomin® is a prescription medicine used for upper facial lines including glabellar frown lines, crow’s feet and horizontal forehead lines.

Profhilo® is a Class III medical device containing low- and high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid.

Product choice depends on the area being treated, the tissue characteristics and what we are trying to achieve.

UP® has access to hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers including products within the TEOSYAL® range from Teoxane®. We do not structure treatment around selling a particular filler brand; the product is selected as part of the treatment plan.
