Why UP®
Why clients choose UP®
A different approach to laser hair removal: advanced technology, structured programmes and treatment decisions guided by your progress.
01
A programme built around results — not selling more sessions
Most clinics sell laser one appointment at a time or in fixed session bundles. UP® structures treatment as an Unlimited programme, so the focus stays on achieving the strongest reduction possible within the programme period rather than limiting treatment to a predetermined number of visits.
02
One of the most advanced laser platforms available
UP® uses the Lumenis Splendor X Midnight Edition™, combining Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm technology. Its large square spot can cover up to 27 mm, allowing faster, more even treatment across larger areas while reducing the overlap and gaps that can occur with smaller circular spot patterns.
03
Treatment that changes as you progress
Laser should not be delivered at the same settings and intervals indefinitely. We review your response throughout the programme and adjust wavelength balance, energy, timing and treatment strategy as hair density and growth patterns change.
04
Greater comfort without compromising the treatment plan
Splendor X combines integrated Cryo-Touch™ contact cooling with Cryo-Air™ cooling to protect and cool the skin throughout treatment. This allows us to approach comfort as part of the treatment system rather than simply reducing settings to make an appointment easier to tolerate.
05
Experienced practitioners working within a clinical framework
Your treatment is delivered by an experienced team using documented protocols, structured progress reviews and access to medical oversight. This is especially important when treating complex growth patterns, darker skin tones, hormonal hair or areas that have responded poorly to previous laser.
Your treatment journey
A treatment journey
built around you
Your programme is shaped around your treatment area, your starting point and the way your hair responds over time. Settings, timing and coverage are reviewed throughout, so each stage reflects your progress.
Expertly planned, carefully adjusted and supported throughout your programme.
Expert assessment from the outset
We begin with a detailed assessment of the treatment area, your skin and hair characteristics, previous laser experience and any factors that may influence your programme. Drawing on our clinical experience, we set realistic expectations and establish the most appropriate starting approach. Where suitable, your first treatment can usually take place at the same appointment.
Treatment that adapts as you progress
Settings, timing and treatment coverage are selected for your skin, hair and response, then adjusted as your programme develops. Integrated cooling is used throughout, while appointment length varies according to the treatment area and the stage of your programme.
Ongoing review, with what you need included
Your hair growth and treatment response are reviewed throughout the programme. As your results develop, settings, timing and treatment coverage can be adjusted without you having to decide whether another individual session is worth the cost. Your Unlimited programme includes the treatment and review needed during the programme term, before moving into less frequent maintenance where appropriate.

Treatment care
Before and after your appointment
A few simple steps help your treatment proceed safely, keep your skin comfortable and support consistent progress between appointments.
01 Before your appointment
- Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning and spray tan for at least two weeks.
- Do not wax, pluck, thread or epilate the area for four weeks.
- Arrive with clean skin free of lotions, oils, deodorant and tanning products.
If shaving is difficult for the treatment area, let us know in advance and we can discuss assistance in clinic.
02 After your treatment
Temporary warmth or mild sensitivity can be normal. During the first 24–48 hours:
- Apply any aftercare products recommended by your therapist.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths, saunas and steam rooms.
- Avoid Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHA/BHA and other active skincare on the treated area.
- Cleanse gently, avoid exfoliation and use a cool compress if the skin feels warm.
- Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and apply SPF 30–50+ where exposure cannot be avoided.
03 Between appointments
- Treated hairs may remain visible for two to three weeks before shedding naturally.
- Shaving is permitted if required, but do not wax, thread or epilate between treatments.
- Gentle exfoliation may assist shedding after the first week, once the skin has settled.
- Temporary patchiness can occur as follicles respond at different rates and is a normal part of the reduction process.
Treatment coverage
What the Shoulders treatment includes
Covers both shoulders from the base of the neck toward the upper arms. It does not include the neck, upper arms or full back. Shoulder hair often blends into adjoining areas rather than stopping at a precise line. Your practitioner will confirm the boundary before treatment and avoid creating an abrupt edge.
01
Shoulder coverage clearly defined
Treatment follows the natural shoulder area from the base of the neck toward the upper arms.
02
Edges blended naturally
Boundaries are planned to avoid a sharp line where the shoulders meet the back, neck or arms.
03
Easy to extend
Shoulders can be combined with Half Back, Full Back, Neck or Full Arms where growth continues.

Selected client stories
A selection of client experiences reflecting UP®’s tailored approach to treatment, timing and long-term reduction.
“The treatments have given me so much more confidence.”
I have been having Full Body laser hair removal at UP®, and the results have honestly exceeded my expectations.
The team are professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. They take the time to explain everything and make sure you feel comfortable throughout treatment.
Shaving and dealing with constant hair growth used to be such a hassle. Now it is something I barely have to think about.
Featured client story
“The course is tailored to you, not just one-size-fits-all.”
Ui is very knowledgeable and explains everything clearly. She gave me realistic expectations about treatment and future maintenance, while also giving me confidence in the process.
One thing I found especially reassuring is that you pay for the programme rather than each individual session. When you are asked to return more frequently at the beginning, you know it is because that is the right treatment schedule—not because the clinic earns more from every appointment.
The course is tailored to you rather than being one-size-fits-all, and the results have been well beyond my expectations.
“Professional and accommodating — highly recommend!”
After five sessions at UP®, I went nearly 12 months before needing a maintenance treatment. I have now completed my sixth session and cannot wait to see the results.
The team are professional and accommodating—highly recommend!
Full Body laser hair removal
Your questions, answered
Clear information helps you understand what you are choosing—and why the way a laser programme is designed can make such a difference. These answers cover Full Body treatment, laser technology and the Unlimited approach used at UP®.
01
Your Full Body treatment
Preparation, appointment timing, treatment frequency and what the experience involves.
Are all body areas treated at every appointment?
Your agreed Full Body coverage remains included throughout the programme, but each appointment is guided by what is actively growing and ready to treat.
Hair does not grow at the same rate across the whole body. Some areas may continue to need regular treatment while others become progressively clearer and require less frequent attention.
We review the regrowth present and treat the appropriate areas at that stage. This means your programme can evolve with your results rather than repeating an identical appointment every time.
How long does a Full Body appointment take?
We allow up to 90 minutes for Full Body laser hair removal. Many appointments take less time, particularly later in your programme as the amount of active regrowth reduces.
We still allow enough time to assess the regrowth present and treat the appropriate areas thoroughly.
How should I prepare for a Full Body appointment?
Shave the treatment areas within approximately 24 hours of your appointment. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading or epilating, because the hair root needs to remain present for laser treatment.
Avoid tanning and significant sun exposure before treatment, and arrive with clean skin free from moisturiser, oils, deodorant and fake tan.
Preparing for Full Body treatment can take time. Tell us before your appointment if an area is difficult for you to reach or shave so our team can advise you.
Does Full Body laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe laser as a brief warm, sharp or snapping sensation rather than continuous pain. Sensitivity varies between clients and across different treatment areas.
Areas with denser or coarser hair can feel more noticeable, particularly during early appointments when more active hair is present.
SPLENDOR X uses integrated contact and air cooling to help manage heat and support comfort throughout treatment. Your laser technician will check in with you and balance comfort with the settings required to produce a meaningful treatment response.
How frequently will I have Full Body treatments?
Body treatments are commonly scheduled approximately four to six weeks apart during the active phase, although your interval is guided by visible regrowth and treatment response.
As reduction develops, appointments usually become less frequent. Treating too early can mean insufficient hair is ready to respond, while leaving long gaps can interrupt treatment momentum.
Your Unlimited programme allows our laser team to recommend the interval that is appropriate for you without every adjustment becoming another separately priced purchase.
Can I have intimate laser hair removal during my period?
Yes. Having your period does not usually prevent intimate laser hair removal. Some people find the area more sensitive during this time, so treatment may feel a little more uncomfortable than usual.
If your appointment falls during your period, you are welcome to contact our team beforehand for discreet guidance on how to prepare. Your comfort and privacy are protected throughout treatment.
02
How laser hair removal works
Understand how laser targets the hair-growth cycle, why treatments are spaced over time and what can affect your response.
What is the difference between laser hair removal and IPL?
IPL is not laser hair removal. It is a less precise, less versatile technology that cannot match the treatment range of a high-quality medical-grade laser system such as SPLENDOR X.
IPL uses a broad spectrum of light. Laser uses specific wavelengths selected to target the hair follicle more precisely, giving the practitioner greater control across different skin tones and hair characteristics.
UP® uses the Lumenis SPLENDOR X, combining Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm through BLEND X® technology. This allows us to adjust treatment according to your skin tone, hair colour and hair thickness, with SPLENDOR X designed to treat across all skin tones and hair types.
The difference is not simply comfort, speed or branding. The technology being used can materially affect your suitability for treatment and the result you achieve.
Are all hair-removal lasers the same?
No. Laser hair-removal systems are not all the same, and the differences between them can materially affect which skin and hair types can be treated, how efficiently an area can be covered and the treatment outcome.
One of the most important differences is wavelength. Some systems use a single wavelength, while SPLENDOR X gives our laser team access to both Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm. Through Lumenis BLEND X® technology, these wavelengths can be used in adjustable proportions so treatment can be matched more precisely to the unique characteristics of the hair follicle being targeted—including hair colour, hair thickness and the surrounding skin tone. The aim is not simply to “adjust for different skin types”, but to select the wavelength balance that best targets the follicle while respecting the characteristics of the skin around it. Lumenis describes SPLENDOR X as suitable across Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, including tanned skin, and across a broad range of hair-removal needs.
The way the laser covers the skin also matters. Many systems use a round treatment spot, which requires overlapping pulses to avoid leaving untreated gaps. SPLENDOR X uses a patented large square spot designed to provide more uniform coverage with less unnecessary overlap. Lumenis reports that its 27 mm square spot can treat large areas up to 37% faster than leading competitors using a 26 mm round spot.
Spot size, treatment speed, cooling, energy delivery and the ability to adjust treatment as the hair changes can all influence the quality and consistency of the result. SPLENDOR X combines its dual-wavelength platform with a large square spot and dual cooling system, giving our laser team a highly versatile platform for treating different areas, skin tones and hair characteristics.
Technology still needs to be used well. Assessment, settings, wavelength selection, treatment coverage, timing and the willingness to adjust the programme as the hair changes all affect the outcome. Two clinics may both advertise “laser hair removal”, but the technology being used—and how it is used—can be very different.
Why do hair-growth cycles matter?
Hair follicles move through active growth, transition and resting phases. Laser is most effective when a hair is actively growing and remains connected to the follicular structures the treatment is intended to affect.
Only a proportion of the hair in any area is at that stage at one time. This is why one treatment cannot effectively target every follicle and why a sequence of correctly timed appointments is required.
Growth cycles also vary across the body. Our laser team reviews visible regrowth and adjusts appointment timing as the programme progresses rather than treating every area at the same fixed interval indefinitely.
Can all lasers treat all hair colours?
No. Different laser systems use different wavelengths, and not every system has the same capability across different hair colours, thicknesses and skin types.
SPLENDOR X is different. It is designed to deliver hair reduction across all skin tones and hair types, using Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelengths through BLEND X® technology. This allows our laser team to adjust the wavelength balance according to your hair colour, hair thickness and surrounding skin tone.
Not every hair colour will respond identically, which is why we assess the hair and surrounding skin during your consultation. We will then confirm the treatment strategy and course we believe is most appropriate for you.
Is SPLENDOR X safe for all skin types?
Yes. SPLENDOR X is safe for use on all Fitzpatrick skin types, from I through VI, including tanned skin.
This is an important difference from most IPL systems and many other less versatile laser platforms, which are not suitable for all skin types, particularly darker skin types.
SPLENDOR X gives our laser team access to Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelengths, allowing treatment to be tailored to your skin tone and hair characteristics.
We assess your skin before every treatment, including any changes caused by sun exposure, tanning, medication or increased sensitivity.
Is laser hair removal safe, and are there side effects?
Laser hair removal is generally safe when the client is assessed accurately and treatment is delivered using suitable settings, cooling and safety controls.
Temporary warmth, redness and small areas of swelling around the follicles are common responses and normally settle after treatment. Less common risks include blistering, burns or temporary changes in skin pigmentation.
Risk is influenced by tanning, medication, skin condition, unsuitable settings and inadequate cooling. At UP®, treatments are performed by trained laser technicians within documented laser-safety and clinical-governance systems.
Can I have laser hair removal while pregnant?
We postpone elective laser hair removal during pregnancy.
This is a precautionary approach because there is limited research confirming safety during pregnancy, rather than evidence that the laser is known to cause harm.
Hormonal changes during and after pregnancy can also influence hair growth and future maintenance requirements, so treatment planning can be reviewed once you are ready to resume.
Can medication or skincare affect laser treatment?
Some prescription medicines, recent medication changes, topical products and active skincare can affect skin sensitivity, healing or response to light-based treatment.
UP® undertakes a comprehensive contraindication and suitability assessment before treatment so that these factors can be considered as part of your treatment plan. We will ask about relevant medication, health changes and skincare as part of that process.
If anything changes during your programme, let our team know so we can reassess your treatment appropriately.
Can I pause my Unlimited programme if I become pregnant?
Yes. If you become pregnant during an Unlimited programme, you can request an approved pregnancy pause of up to nine months.
Your programme term will be extended by the length of the approved pause, preserving the remaining treatment period while treatment is postponed. No treatments can be redeemed during the pause.
Contact our team in writing when you would like the pause to begin, and we will confirm the process and your revised programme dates.
You can read the full programme terms and conditions.
Can laser hair removal be performed over tattoos?
Laser hair removal is not applied directly over tattoo pigment because the ink can absorb the laser energy, increasing the risk of a skin reaction, burn or damage to the tattoo.
Having tattoos does not normally prevent treatment of the surrounding area. Our laser team will identify the tattoo boundaries and help protect them during treatment, including covering or marking the tattooed skin where appropriate so it can be safely avoided.
Hair directly over the tattoo, or immediately beside its protected margin, may need to be managed using another hair-removal method. We will explain the practical coverage during your consultation.
Do you offer gender-affirming laser hair removal?
Yes. We welcome transgender and gender-diverse clients and have experience creating laser hair removal plans for clients undergoing gender affirmation. Treatment is planned around your individual goals, including the areas you would like to treat, any hair you wish to retain, and any relevant treatment or hormonal history.
If you would like to discuss your options or any concerns privately, we encourage you to book a confidential consultation with our team. Our aim is to provide a discreet, respectful and supportive environment in which you can make an informed treatment plan.
03
The UP® Unlimited approach
A programme designed around biology, progress and maintaining treatment momentum.
Why does UP® offer Unlimited programmes?
Because the biology of hair growth should determine when you are treated—not whether you feel like paying for another individual session.
Hair grows in cycles, and only a proportion of follicles are in a treatable stage at any one time. Different areas can also respond at different speeds. An Unlimited programme allows our laser team to treat you at appropriate intervals, adjust timing as your results develop and continue working through active regrowth without turning every appointment into another purchase decision.
Some areas may reduce quickly while others require more persistence. Everything agreed within your programme remains included during the selected treatment term.
The goal is focused: build momentum, achieve meaningful reduction and move you towards simpler, less frequent maintenance.
What does “Unlimited” include in practice?
Unlimited means treatment of your agreed areas is included at the appropriate intervals during your selected programme term, subject to treatment suitability and the programme conditions.
Reviews, setting adjustments and changes to appointment timing form part of managing the programme. You are not charged another individual treatment fee each time those needs change.
Unlimited does not mean treating repeatedly when there is insufficient active regrowth or when another appointment would be clinically inappropriate. Treatment remains guided by hair-growth cycles, safety and your individual response.
In practical terms, the treatment and review you need during the programme term are included—without having to ration appointments or areas according to the cost of another session.
How long does laser hair removal take to work?
Many clients begin noticing a visible difference within their first few treatments, including slower regrowth, patchier coverage, softer remaining hair and less frequent shaving.
More significant reduction develops as successive growth cycles are treated. Because only a proportion of follicles are in the appropriate growth phase at any one time, meaningful long-term reduction requires consistency over time rather than simply fitting in a fixed number of closely spaced sessions.
Your programme gives us time to follow those growth cycles, adjust treatment as the hair changes and maintain momentum through the active reduction phase.
Results vary between people and treatment areas, but the process should be progressive: the amount, density and pattern of active regrowth should change as treatment develops.
Why might my treatment timing or settings change?
Effective laser treatment should change as the hair changes.
Early in a programme, growth may be denser and treatment may be required more regularly. As reduction develops, remaining hair can become finer, patchier or slower to return.
Our laser team reviews visible regrowth, skin response and progress throughout your programme. Settings, wavelength balance, treatment coverage and appointment intervals can then be adjusted to reflect what is present at that stage.
This active management is an important part of the UP® approach. Your programme is designed to evolve rather than simply repeating the same settings and schedule at every appointment.
Will I need maintenance after my programme?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction rather than a guarantee that every follicle will remain permanently inactive.
After the active treatment phase, many clients move to occasional maintenance as new or previously inactive hairs appear. How often this is needed varies between people and across different treatment areas.
Hormonal changes, age, medication and other biological factors can also influence future growth. Near the end of your programme, we review what remains and recommend maintenance based on your actual results rather than a predetermined schedule.
Do I need to pay for the programme upfront?
No. You can purchase your programme directly or arrange scheduled payments using UP®Pay™.
UP®Pay™ allows programme costs to be paid automatically by card on an agreed weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedule. Unlike many short-term buy-now-pay-later products, payments can be arranged across the treatment period.
